Web Desk: A large group of women leaders and activists in Mirpur voiced support for peace and stability in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, while distancing themselves from the activities of the banned Awami Action Committee, which they accused of promoting unrest and social division.

The women made the remarks during a press conference at the Kashmir Press Club in Mirpur, attended by a sizeable gathering of women and children.

Addressing the gathering, speakers said Azad Kashmir has long remained a peaceful region and stressed the need to preserve stability amid recent tensions.

They alleged that the outlawed Awami Action Committee was attempting to create discord and uncertainty, adding that residents should remain vigilant against efforts aimed at fostering division within society.

The participants emphasized that maintaining law and order was essential for the region’s continued social and economic development.

The women leaders also underscored the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and Azad Kashmir, describing it as rooted in history, shared values and public sentiment.

They said Pakistan had consistently supported development initiatives in the region, including efforts to improve infrastructure and expand access to public services.

According to the speakers, the bond between Pakistan and Azad Kashmir remains strong and enjoys broad public support.

Meanwhile, the participants urged citizens, particularly women, to act responsibly and reject misinformation and inflammatory narratives.

They called on the public to contribute positively to social harmony and avoid actions that could undermine peace or create instability.

The speakers said the people of Azad Kashmir overwhelmingly support development, progress and stability and would reject any attempt to disrupt public order.

The event drew significant participation from women and children, reflecting what organizers described as widespread support for peace and community cohesion.

Participants reiterated their commitment to promoting harmony, brotherhood and development across the region.

They also pledged to continue efforts aimed at safeguarding peace and preventing divisive or disruptive influences from gaining traction in society.

Concluding the event, the speakers reaffirmed their determination to support initiatives that strengthen social unity and regional development.

They said preserving peace and stability would remain a collective responsibility and stressed that the people of Azad Kashmir would continue to stand against any efforts aimed at creating unrest or weakening social cohesion.
