Web Desk: The Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has confirmed that legislative elections will take place on July 27, dismissing reports of a possible postponement as unfounded.
In a statement, the commission said preparations for the electoral process were proceeding according to schedule and that there was no proposal under consideration to defer the vote. The clarification came amid circulating speculation about a potential delay in the polls.
The commission reiterated its commitment to conducting transparent and timely elections, emphasizing that all administrative arrangements were being finalized ahead of the scheduled voting date.
Officials said the electoral timetable remained unchanged and urged the public to rely on verified information regarding the polling process.
Meanwhile, authorities announced a series of measures targeting the leadership and facilitators of the banned organization JAAC, signaling a broader effort to curb its activities.
According to officials, action will be taken against individuals accused of assisting the group both within Pakistan and abroad. The measures are expected to extend to supporters and networks allegedly linked to the organization.
As part of the crackdown, authorities plan to block the passports and national identity documents of individuals identified in connection with the organization.
Officials also said the names of committee members associated with the group would be placed on the Exit Control List (ECL), restricting their ability to leave the country.
In addition, authorities have sought records related to the properties and financial assets of the organization’s leadership.
The move is aimed at gathering information on assets held by key figures as investigations into the group’s activities continue.
The latest measures underscore the government’s intensified focus on enforcing restrictions against banned organizations while electoral preparations in AJK move forward as scheduled.
