US president Donald Trump cancels strikes on Iran

US President Donald Trump has announced that the airstrikes and bombing campaign that had been scheduled against Iran for tonight have been cancelled. According to him, the decision was made after meaningful progress was achieved in negotiations with Iran’s senior leadership and all parties approved the final points of a proposed agreement.

The US president said that talks with Iran were elevated to the highest levels of leadership, where consensus was reached on both the fundamental and detailed provisions of the agreement. He added that, in light of this progress, the decision for immediate military action had been withdrawn.

According to Trump, the proposed agreement has been approved by the United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Türkiye, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, and other relevant parties.

He further stated that the naval blockade will remain in place for the time being and will continue until the agreement is fully finalized. The time and venue for the signing ceremony, he said, will be announced soon.

The development is being viewed as a potential step toward easing regional tensions and reducing the likelihood of a major military confrontation. However, no formal detailed response has yet been issued by Iran or the other parties mentioned regarding the announcement.

International analysts say that if the agreement is successfully concluded, it could have significant implications for the balance of power in the Middle East and for global energy politics.
