To ensure the safety of tourists, the Patriata Cable Car Service has been temporarily suspended.
According to DGM North Muazzam Nazir, it has been decided to replace the cable car’s iron rope on the recommendation of international experts so that the service can be made even safer in line with modern safety standards.
He said that the new iron rope will be imported from abroad, due to which it may take approximately one to one-and-a-half months to restore the cable car service. However, the Patriata chairlift service is continuing as normal, and tourists are safely benefiting from the facility.
The DGM North said that work is underway on several development projects to modernize tourism facilities in Murree. A tender has been issued for the introduction of a modern state-of-the-art safari train for Kashmir Point, while modern electric carts are also being introduced for the convenience of tourists.
He further said that work is progressing rapidly on a glass walkway bridge, new chairlifts, a paragliding club, and other mega tourism projects. Upon completion of these projects, Murree will emerge as a modern and model tourist destination.
Muazzam Nazir clarified that the Patriata Cable Car Service will be restored once all safety requirements are fulfilled and experts grant their approval. He reaffirmed that the protection of tourists’ lives and property remains the top priority of the tourism department.
