New Zealand all-rounder Mitchell Santner has revealed that during his participation in the Indian Premier League he was paid only half of his contracted amount instead of the full payment, which left him deeply disappointed.

Speaking in an interview, Mitchell Santner said he was ruled out of the IPL due to a shoulder injury. According to him, Mumbai Indians did not pay the full amount of 20 million Indian rupees and instead paid only half of the agreed fee.

Santner said he was very hurt by receiving only half payment, especially because he was forced out of the tournament due to injury.

He added that he missed his first IPL match due to the birth of his second child. Later, he returned, played a match against Delhi, but suffered a shoulder injury. After a week, he returned again but was struck by injury once more, after which he had to go back home.

According to Mitchell Santner, within two weeks his shoulder was injured twice, and he felt he was putting too much strain on his body.

He said he expected to recover in about eight weeks, but he returned to the national team in four weeks after regaining fitness. He added that after his quick recovery, various things were being said about him in the media.

Mitchell Santner joined the New Zealand team for the first Test against England a week after recovering from his shoulder injury.

Santner played 5 matches for Mumbai Indians in the IPL, and on April 27 he was officially ruled out of the tournament.

According to IPL rules, injured players are generally paid according to the terms of their contract signed at the time of auction.

According to Indian media, Mumbai Indians have not yet given an official response to Mitchell Santner’s statement regarding the half-payment.
