Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that in the upcoming elections, protecting Form 45 is the responsibility of the people, and that Form 47 will not be allowed under any circumstances. He said that elections will be transparent and that people should remain alert to safeguard their votes. He expressed these views while addressing an election rally in Gulabpur, a tehsil of Shigar district in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Bilawal Bhutto said in his speech that Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir played an important role in the Iran–US ceasefire and showed outstanding performance in “Operation Haq”. He further said that the Sindh government has completed a major welfare project by constructing 2 million houses for poor people.
He added that the people of Gilgit-Baltistan should have full rights over the region’s minerals and natural resources, and the benefits of these resources must directly reach the local population.
He further said that when Gilgit-Baltistan develops, the entire country will benefit, and especially the development of Islamabad is also linked with it. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also condemned the war between the United States and Iran and called peace in the region essential.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that under the 18th Constitutional Amendment, granting Gilgit-Baltistan rights equal to other provinces is part of the PPP manifesto, and if constitutional reforms are completed, the long-standing issue of GB’s constitutional rights can be resolved.
He also said that his party will try to hold Gilgit-Baltistan elections alongside Pakistan’s general elections in order to improve political harmony and transparency. He said that decision-making authority should be given at the local level instead of Islamabad so that public issues can be resolved locally.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari demanded that the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs be abolished and full powers be given to the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly. He said that Shigar is a stronghold of the PPP and that the party will win this seat in the upcoming elections.
