Web Desk: The United States has indicated a willingness to temporarily ease sanctions targeting Iran’s oil sector while negotiations continue, according to a report published Monday by Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency, citing a source familiar with Tehran’s negotiating team.

The reported proposal marks a shift from earlier US positions by introducing the possibility of interim sanctions relief during the course of talks rather than waiting for a comprehensive agreement, the source said.

However, Tehran continues to press for the complete removal of all sanctions as part of any final deal with Washington, according to the report. The source added that the US side has instead suggested temporary exemptions issued through the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) until a broader framework can be finalised.

Meanwhile, negotiations between the two sides remain active through Pakistani mediation channels, the report said.

According to Tasnim, Iran has delivered a revised 14-point proposal to the United States through Pakistani intermediaries after receiving Washington’s response to an earlier draft.

The source said Tehran reviewed the US feedback before amending its own proposal and sending the updated version back through the same diplomatic channel.

Pakistani mediators subsequently conveyed the revised Iranian text to American officials, the report added.

The latest Iranian proposal centers on efforts to end the ongoing conflict and outlines what Tehran describes as confidence-building measures expected from the United States, the source said.

Earlier on Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei confirmed that indirect discussions with Washington were continuing through Pakistani mediation.

Neither US officials nor Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry immediately commented on the reported exchange of proposals.
