Indian Army Chief’s statement manifests India’s deliberate aggression against Pakistan: Lt Gen Saeed

⏱ 2 minute read
Indian Army Chief statement about Pakistan

Lieutenant General (Retd) Muhammad Saeed has said that the recent threatening rhetoric by the Indian Army Chief reflects a deliberate, aggressive, excessively assertive, and revisionist foreign policy mindset regarding Pakistan, which is being wrongly projected by the Indian state against Pakistan.

He said that contrary to India’s broader strategic concepts, neither any political nor military plan of Pakistan is aimed at eliminating India politically or militarily. Pakistan’s fundamental and only objective is to seek a fair resolution of historical disputes so that lasting peace and stability can be established in the region.

According to the statement, this is a time for Indian leadership to understand that they cannot ignore a country that is the fifth most populous in the world and is located in one of the most important geopolitical and strategic regions. Pakistan not only plays a positive role at the regional level but also at the global level; its armed forces are strong and it is also a nuclear power. In such a context, it is also clear that if Pakistan faces unilateral actions or unprovoked aggression, it has full capability to respond strongly.

It was also noted that militarily, India will never be in a position to impose its will in South Asia. The balance of power in the region does not allow any country to unilaterally impose decisions or design its strategy by considering the other side weak.

He further stated that the better future of the 1.75 billion people of South Asia is only possible if Indian political and military leadership avoids traditional patterns of emerging powers, which include arrogance, overly aggressive policy choices, and treating the opposing side as inferior.

The statement also emphasized that for lasting peace, development, and stability in the region, it is essential that India adopts realism in its policies and moves towards resolving historical disputes through dialogue and justice, so that the people of South Asia can move towards a safer, more stable, and better future.
