Web Desk: Business centers and markets across Lahore will remain open until 10 p.m. until June 1 under revised operating hours aimed at supporting commercial activity and easing shopping flow during the busy pre-summer period, local authorities and trader representatives said on Thursday.

The decision applies to major commercial hubs, retail markets and shopping areas throughout the city, where businesses had earlier faced tighter evening closing schedules.

Traders welcomed the move, saying longer business hours would help increase customer turnout and improve sales as seasonal shopping activity rises ahead of summer vacations and upcoming festive demand.

Market associations said the extension would also reduce congestion during peak evening hours because shoppers would have more time to visit commercial areas gradually instead of crowding markets shortly before closing time.

Meanwhile, shopkeepers in several major markets reported improved business sentiment after the announcement. Retailers dealing in garments, footwear, electronics and household goods expect stronger consumer spending over the next two weeks.

Local officials said authorities would continue monitoring traffic flow, security arrangements and electricity management in busy commercial districts during the extended operating hours.

Commercial activity in Lahore traditionally increases during late evenings as temperatures rise in May, prompting shoppers and families to visit markets after sunset.

The revised schedule will remain in effect until June 1 unless authorities announce further changes.
