Web Desk: Pakistan’s Army Rocket Force Command carried out a successful training launch of the domestically developed Fatah-4 ground-launched cruise missile, military officials said, in a move aimed at strengthening operational readiness and demonstrating advances in indigenous defense technology.
The missile system uses modern avionics and advanced navigation technology designed to strike long-range targets with a high degree of accuracy.
The exercise formed part of a broader effort to improve troop preparedness and assess the performance of multiple upgraded subsystems intended to boost targeting precision and survivability under operational conditions.
Senior military officials, along with scientists and engineers involved in the missile’s development, observed the training exercise.
Military authorities said the launch allowed technical teams to evaluate key operational components of the missile system while also helping combat units refine deployment and response procedures.
Pakistan has increasingly focused on expanding its locally developed defense capabilities in recent years, particularly in missile technology and precision-guided systems.
Following the launch, President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and senior military leadership congratulated the teams involved in the successful exercise.
The praise also came from Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu.
In official statements, the country’s civilian and military leadership commended the scientists, engineers and operational personnel for their technical expertise and commitment to advancing Pakistan’s indigenous missile development program.
Pakistan has continued to invest in homegrown weapons systems as part of efforts to reduce reliance on foreign defense imports and strengthen strategic deterrence capabilities.
Defense analysts say the continued testing and modernisation of the Fatah missile series reflects Islamabad’s focus on improving long-range precision strike capability amid evolving regional security dynamics.
The military did not disclose the exact range or additional technical specifications of the Fatah-4 system following the exercise.
