Zong 5G for iPhone in Pakistan

Zong has officially launched 5G services for iPhone users across the country, meeting the long-standing demands of its users.

According to a press release by Zong iPhone users may now activate 5G services with Zong and can access uninterrupted and seamless internet services in Pakistan.

Earlier, an important meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on IT and Telecom was held under the chairpersonship of Senator Palwasha Khan, where key issues including social media regulations, the financial condition of the telecom sector, and the launch of 5G services were discussed.

During the meeting delay in the rollout of 5G services was also discussed. Senators remarked sarcastically that 5G has yet to launch despite users frequently checking their phones.

The chairman PTA had stated that the lack of a required technical update (patch) from Apple Inc. as one reason for the delay. However, the IT Secretary assured that 5G services will be activated on Apple devices in May.

It is worth noting that Zong had already launched 5G services across 16 cities in Pakistan. The rollout included key cities such as Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, and Quetta, with services now live in multiple urban centers.

The launch had come after Zong secured its 5G license, marking a major milestone in Pakistan’s digital evolution. The company plans to deploy and upgrade over 1,000 5G sites nationwide in 2026, aiming to expand high-speed connectivity and enhance digital services across the country.

Zong’s 5G rollout builds on its pioneering efforts since 2019, when it conducted Pakistan’s first 5G trial. The company has already demonstrated speeds exceeding 1.4Gbps in trials.

The recent launch marks a significant step in Pakistan’s transition toward 5G-enabled services, with further expansion expected as the technology continues to roll out nationwide.
