Web Desk: A senior meteorologist has warned that temperatures across southern Pakistan will rise further in the coming days, increasing health risks.
Muhammad Aslam said on Sunday that southern Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan are already facing high temperatures. He added that temperatures could rise by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius after May 6. As a result, authorities are urging people to take precautions.
Hospitals are reporting more patients with heat exhaustion and dehydration. This trend shows the early impact of the intensifying heat. Therefore, Aslam stressed the need for public awareness and quick preventive action.
He urged residents to stay hydrated and avoid unnecessary outdoor activity. People should remain indoors between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when temperatures peak. He also advised wearing light-colored clothes and covering the head to reduce sun exposure.
Aslam encouraged people to drink plenty of water and natural fluids such as sugarcane juice. He urged special care for children and the elderly, as they face higher risks during extreme heat.
Farmers should protect livestock from heat stress by providing shade and water. At the same time, motorists should carry water and avoid travel during peak heat hours. They should also ensure their vehicles are in good condition.
Aslam urged the public to follow official instructions and weather updates. He said these measures will help reduce health risks during the heatwave.
Temperatures continue to rise, and authorities remain on alert. They are urging citizens to prioritize safety and stay prepared for worsening conditions.
