peace on the global stage

Web Desk: Attaullah Tarar said Pakistan has emerged as a proponent of peace on the global stage following what he described as a decisive national success, adding that international recognition of the country’s leadership has grown over the past year.

Speaking at an event organised under the “Pakistan Connect” initiative, the information minister said developments since the milestone had clarified regional dynamics and strengthened Pakistan’s diplomatic and strategic standing.

Tarar said Pakistan’s international reputation has improved, with its passport gaining wider respect and citizens taking pride in their national identity abroad.

He added that the country now holds a stronger position both militarily and diplomatically, reflecting what he called a consistent policy of engagement and stability.

At the same time, he contrasted Pakistan’s trajectory with conditions across its eastern border, describing the situation there as marked by isolation and setbacks.

The minister reiterated Islamabad’s stance on regional security, saying Pakistan has consistently faced militant threats while continuing efforts to counter terrorism.

He referred to past incidents and alleged involvement of foreign elements, including the case of Kulbhushan Jadhav, as part of broader concerns raised by Pakistani authorities.

Tarar also criticised India’s response to recent incidents, including one in Pahalgam, saying Pakistan had called for evidence while maintaining a responsible approach.

Emphasizing domestic challenges, Tarar said various segments of Pakistani society have made significant sacrifices in the fight against militancy. He cited attacks such as the APS Peshawar attack and incidents involving public infrastructure as examples of the country’s ongoing struggle.

He said Pakistan continues to confront extremist threats while advocating for regional peace and stability.

Meanwhile, the minister praised the role of young Pakistanis, particularly on digital platforms, for shaping international perceptions. He said their online engagement has helped counter misinformation and present Pakistan’s narrative globally.

Tarar added that efforts by Pakistani users on social media have amplified the country’s cultural and national identity, even in the face of restrictions on digital content.

The remarks reflect Islamabad’s continued emphasis on its role in counterterrorism and regional diplomacy, while highlighting ongoing tensions with India.

Officials say Pakistan aims to project a message of stability and cooperation, even as political and security challenges persist in the region.
