Web Desk: Pakistan have issued a disinformation alert, rejecting claims circulating online about a so-called exclusive interview involving top state leadership.
Officials said reports shared by an account identifying itself as “Global Trends Magazine (GTM)” falsely claimed it conducted a “world-exclusive interview” with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces Gen Asim Munir.
They clarified that no such interview has taken place, nor has any interaction of this nature been approved or scheduled.
A preliminary open-source intelligence assessment raised concerns about the authenticity of the account behind the claims. Officials noted that the platform shows limited activity and lacks the transparency and verified presence typically associated with established international publications.
They added that the account’s digital footprint does not meet basic credibility standards, further undermining its claims.
Officials described the incident as a deliberate attempt to misuse the names of senior leadership to attract attention and potentially mislead the public. They urged citizens to avoid sharing or engaging with unverified content.
Authorities also signaled that “Global Trends Magazine” should be treated as an unreliable source in future. They warned that the platform appears prone to spreading false information and could be used for deceptive or fraudulent purposes.
The advisory comes amid broader efforts to counter misinformation and encourage responsible use of digital platforms, particularly when content involves public institutions and national leadership.
