SNGPL releases 2025 winter gas timings

Web Desk: Residents across Lahore face a worsening energy crisis as Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) began unannounced loadshedding during peak cooking hours. The company struggled to maintain system pressure Thursday amid a growing shortfall attributed to regional conflict and supply constraints.

SNGPL previously established a specific three-part schedule to ensure gas availability for domestic consumers. Under this plan, the company promised supply from 5:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., and 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Consequently, households relied on these windows for daily meal preparation. However, citizens now report that gas remains unavailable even during these designated times.

The gas crisis has intensified due to a significant shortfall on the main transmission lines. Company officials noted that the current wartime situation in the region has severely impacted the overall gas supply chain. Furthermore, falling pressure across the network makes it difficult to reach consumers at the ends of the distribution lines.

The sudden shift to unannounced outages has sparked widespread frustration among domestic users. Many residents have turned to expensive alternatives like LPG cylinders or electric hot plates to cope with the shortage. Despite the government’s recent assurances regarding global oil price adjustments and subsidies, the immediate reality for Lahore’s residents remains a cold stove.

Authorities have not yet provided a definitive timeline for the restoration of regular pressure. As the system shortfall grows, experts warn that the duration of loadshedding could increase further in the coming days. SNGPL continues to monitor the situation while attempting to balance the dwindling supply against high urban demand.
