According to details, the Health Department took strict action after the video went viral, suspending the Medical Superintendent (MS), Head of Department, Women Medical Officer, and 5 postgraduate residents (PGRs), directing them to report to headquarters.
Additionally, 2 nurses and one staff member were also suspended for negligence.
The Secretary of Specialized Healthcare suspended MS Dr. Farah Inam and ordered her to report to the department. Head of Department Dr. Uzma was also suspended and instructed to report.
Women Medical Officer Iqra Hafeez, charge nurses Iqra Zahid and Fauzia Rashid, and staff member Haseeb-ur-Rehman were also suspended.
Further details: Investigations revealed that incidents of recording and sharing patients’ videos during operations had occurred before as well.
It is noteworthy that a day earlier, four lady doctors had also been suspended following action by the Chief Minister’s Complaint Cell.
Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique stated that violations of SOPs in hospitals will not be tolerated, and immediate action was taken against those responsible.
Secretary Health Punjab Azmat Mahmood added that such actions are a violation of medical ethics, an insult to patient dignity, and a breach of professional standards, which are strictly prohibited under government rules and hospital SOPs.
