Eid in Bajaur

Despite the official announcement by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee that the Shawwal moon has not been sighted, announcements have emerged from various areas of Bajaur to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Friday, leading to differing opinions at the local level.

According to details, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee had declared that the moon was not sighted anywhere in the country and decided that Eid-ul-Fitr would be observed on Saturday, March 21. Following this official announcement, preparations are underway across most parts of the country accordingly.

However, according to local sources, announcements were made from several mosques in different areas of Bajaur via loudspeakers to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Friday, March 20. Following these announcements, residents have also started preparations for Eid, creating a mixed situation and differing views in the area.

Sources say that these announcements were made at the local level and differ from the decision of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee. Due to this situation, some people are preparing to celebrate Eid on Friday, while others are preparing for Saturday.

It is worth noting that differences over the sighting of the Shawwal moon arise in various parts of the country every year. However, the final and official announcement is made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, based on which public holidays and other arrangements are decided.
