Following federal government directives, speed limits on motorways and national highways have been reduced.

According to a Motorway Police spokesperson, the new limits have been implemented immediately to save fuel and improve traffic discipline.

On motorways, the maximum speed for cars and light transport vehicles (LTVs) has been set at 100 km/h, while public service vehicles (PSVs) and heavy transport vehicles (HTVs) are limited to 90 km/h.

Motorcyclists have also been offered up to 3 liters of free petrol as part of the new measures.

On national highways, the maximum speed for cars and LTVs is now 80 km/h, and for PSVs and HTVs it is 65 km/h.

Imran Ahmed, spokesperson for the Central Region Motorway Police, stated that the main purpose of the new speed limits is to save fuel and reduce traffic accidents.

He added that the Motorway Police have launched an awareness campaign to inform drivers about the new rules.
Drivers are urged to follow the prescribed speed limits, respect traffic laws, and cooperate with the Motorway Police to ensure safe travel.
