Saudi Arabia warns Iran of retaliation

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has, for the first time, threatened Iran with retaliatory action if attacks on the kingdom or its energy facilities continue, according to a report by news agencies.

Saudi Arabia warned that it supports a diplomatic resolution to tensions between Tehran and Washington, but continued attacks on the kingdom or its energy infrastructure will prompt Riyadh to respond.

Sources cited that Gulf countries have ,so far ,denied the US access to their airspace for strikes on Iran. However, if attacks persist, Saudi Arabia may allow US forces to use its bases. On the other hand Iran maintains that it is targeting U.S. assets and interests, not Gulf countries, and has demanded the closure of American military bases in the region.

The report notes that since the US and Israel launched strikes against Iran on February 28, Saudi Arabia has been in continuous contact with Tehran through its ambassador. So far, neither Saudi Arabia nor Iran has officially commented .

Tensions in the Gulf region have been increasing with every passing day following a series of strikes by the US and Israel against Iran on February 28, 2026. In response Iran has repeatedly targeted US assets and interests in the region, raising concerns among Gulf countries about potential spillover attacks on their soil and critical energy infrastructure.
