In a thrilling semi-final at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, India defeated England by 7 runs to qualify for the T20 World Cup 2026 final.
Chasing a target of 254, England managed 246 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Sanju Samson was named Player of the Match for his outstanding innings.

Earlier, batting first, India scored 253 for 7 in their allotted overs and set a target of 254 runs.
England’s Jacob Bethell scored a brilliant 105 off 48 balls, including 8 fours and 7 sixes, but his effort went in vain. Jos Buttler scored 25, while Will Jacks made 5 runs.
For India, Hardik Pandya took two wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel claimed one wicket each.
Samson, after being dropped by England captain Harry Brook, went on to score a magnificent 89 off 42 balls. Shivam Dube contributed 43 runs, while Ishan Kishan added 39.
Pandya was run out after scoring 27, and Tilak Varma made a quick 21 runs.
For England, Jacks and Adil Rashid took two wickets each.

India will now face New Zealand national cricket team in the final, which will be played on Sunday in Ahmedabad. In the first semi-final played a day earlier, New Zealand defeated South Africa national cricket team by 9 wickets.
