Web Desk: A senior commander linked to the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) was killed during an operation in Afghanistan’s Kandahar province, according to security officials familiar with the development.

The terrorist, identified as Naeem and known by the alias “Doctor,” was described by officials as a key figure within the armed terrorist group.

Security sources said Naeem had been associated with the BLA’s Majeed Brigade, a faction of the organization that has claimed responsibility for several high-profile attacks in recent years.

Officials said the unit is considered one of the group’s most active operational wings and has frequently been linked to complex assaults and suicide bombings targeting security forces and strategic installations.

Authorities view Naeem as a significant operative within the brigade’s network.

He was killed during what officials described as a targeted operation in Kandahar. However, authorities did not immediately release further operational details, including whether other suspects were involved or detained.

Kandahar, located in southern Afghanistan, has periodically surfaced in regional security discussions because of cross-border terror activity and the presence of various armed groups.

Security officials also said the slain commander was a close relative of Baloch activist Mahrang Baloch. No immediate comment from the activist or her representatives was available following the reports.

Meanwhile, authorities continue to monitor networks linked to the BLA, which Pakistan has designated as a banned organization over its involvement in insurgent violence in Balochistan.
