Pakistan Air force launches attack on Afghanistan

⏱ 2 minute read

Web Desk: Security forces pushed back Afghan Taliban fighters from key positions at the Torkham border crossing after what officials described as an unprovoked act of aggression.

The confrontation took place at the strategic border point linking Pakistan’s Khyber district with Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province. Pakistan Airforce has also destroyed big ammunition depot at Nangarhar.

Security sources said Afghan Taliban fighters initiated the confrontation without provocation. In response, Pakistani forces launched what officials called a “strong and effective” counteraction.

As a result, Afghan Taliban fighters retreated from their positions near the border and fled the area, according to the sources. They reportedly loaded equipment onto trucks before withdrawing from the crossing.

Reuters could not independently verify the claims, and there was no immediate comment from authorities in Kabul.

Following the exchange, Pakistani forces took control of several key checkpoints previously held by Afghan Taliban elements, security officials said. The national flag of Pakistan was raised at the vacated posts, signaling control of the positions.

Moreover, officials said the border area was secured after the retreat, with Pakistani troops maintaining a heightened presence to deter further escalation.

Security sources reiterated that Pakistan’s armed forces remain prepared to make any sacrifice in defense of the country’s sovereignty. They added that security forces stand ready at all times to deliver a “befitting and effective” response to any cross-border aggression.

The Torkham crossing has witnessed intermittent tensions in the past, underscoring the fragile nature of security along the Pakistan Afghanistan border.
