Fugitive youtuber Adil Raja declared analyst by Afghan media

Web Desk: Adil Raja, a Pakistani YouTuber known for spreading controversial content and defaming Pakistan’s state institutions, has been recently cited by Afghan media as a journalist and political analyst. This portrayal is misleading, as Raja is a fugitive YouTuber who exploits public sentiment to generate revenue and has previously appeared on Indian media to make false claims against Pakistan.

Earlier the London High Court has issued a final ruling against Raja after he admitted to defaming Brigadier (Retired) Rashid Naseer. The court emphasised that failure to comply with its orders could constitute contempt, with possible consequences including fines, imprisonment, or asset seizure. Raja acknowledged that he had repeatedly made unsubstantiated claims against Naseer.

The court ordered Raja to pay £50,000 in damages along with £260,000 in legal costs. The court also instructed him to publicly apologise to Brigadier Naseer on all his social media accounts and website. The High Court also prohibited him from making any further defamatory statements, rejecting his appeal and making the ruling final and binding.

Despite the court ruling, Raja shared summaries of the judgment across his platforms, prompting legal experts to warn that such actions could further complicate his situation if deemed a breach of the court’s directive. Observers argue that his ongoing online activity, combined with Afghan media coverage, risks legitimising a figure who has repeatedly spread unverified and inflammatory claims.
