Severe winter storm paralyses northeastern United States

Web desk: A powerful winter storm has brought life to a standstill across the northeastern United States. International media reports that nearly fifty four million people are under alert as the region faces heavy snowfall and strong winds.

A state of emergency has been declared in six states including New York New Jersey Delaware Rhode Island Connecticut and Massachusetts due to the severe weather conditions.

More than eleven thousand flights have been canceled across the country while many others are facing delays. The Federal Aviation Administration has issued ground stop warnings at major airports in New York.

In New York City a travel ban for non essential movement will remain in effect from nine at night until twelve noon. Mayor Zahran Mamdani has ordered all public schools in the city to remain closed.

Weather reports predict snowfall between eighteen and twenty four inches in New York City with some areas possibly receiving up to twenty eight inches. Heavy snow and strong winds are expected to continue across the northeastern United States until Monday morning.

Residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and to stay updated with official weather alerts.
