Narowal: Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal has said that the government of Pakistan Muslim League (N) does not believe in revenge politics.

Addressing a laptop distribution ceremony in Narowal, Punjab, he said that students of the University of Narowal were second to none in any field.
He stated that the youth of the district were highly talented and that laptops had been distributed among hundreds of thousands of young people.

He added that the distribution was being carried out purely on merit. He also accused certain elements of continuously spreading propaganda against the country, saying that during the tenure of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), no substantial work was done apart from abusive politics.

The federal minister said that the PML-N government did not believe in revenge politics. “Revenge was what PTI did to its opposition,” he remarked, adding, “I am an example before you. When I was shot in the arm and underwent a second surgery, I was arrested on the third day.”

He said that doctors and even a judge had issued written orders for him to be provided physiotherapy so his arm could recover, but the government at the time denied him physiotherapy for two and a half months, which caused his arm to become permanently bent. “My crooked arm is a sign of the revenge politics of PTI’s founder,” he said.

Ahsan Iqbal further stated that Shehbaz Sharif, Khawaja Asif, and Rana Sanaullah were made to sleep on cold floors during harsh winter nights. He added that today the PTI founder is in the same cell where he himself was kept. “If that cell was appropriate for me as an accused, then Mr. Khan is a convicted prisoner,” he said.

He claimed that the PTI founder was being provided all facilities, including preferred meals and exercise equipment, adding that these were facilities not available to any other prisoner in Pakistan. He alleged that PTI was fabricating stories to secure its leader’s release through an NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance).

Ahsan Iqbal said the PTI founder was not arrested in a political case but was sentenced in the 190 million corruption case. He added that PTI should hold its own leader accountable instead of campaigning for his release. “You lectured us about fighting corruption, yet you turned out to be accused in Pakistan’s biggest corruption case,” he said.

He further stated that PTI only saught the release of its founder through an NRO and nothing else. Regarding the PTI founder’s health, he said that only a qualified doctor—not a lawyer—can give an authentic medical opinion.

The minister concluded by saying that the government had acted in accordance with the directives of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, and that the PTI founder was receiving excellent facilities. “We did not receive even a fraction of such facilities in jail. The PTI founder is serving time in what can be called a five-star jail,” he added.
He also remarked that the PTI founder once said from the United States that “prison is prison” and had vowed to remove Nawaz Sharif’s air conditioner. “It is divine accountability.
