New Delhi: “Why give excessive concessions to the United States?” — Small farmers across India staged protests in various cities against the India–U.S. trade agreement and organized rallies nationwide.
According to details, small farmers in different cities of India protested against the trade agreement between India and the United States. Demonstrations and rallies were held across the country opposing the deal.
According to reports, farmers’ leaders stated that India has granted excessive concessions to the United States in the agricultural sector, which they claim are against the interests of farmers.
According to media reports, the trade agreement would open India’s highly protected farming sector to American products. India would be able to import soybeans and other agricultural products from the United States.
Concerns regarding the agreement include potential price declines, reduced demand for local crops, and possible risks associated with genetically modified (GM) crops.
Under the agreement, India would reduce tariffs on American agricultural equipment and would also stop purchasing oil from Russia.
