Pakistan showcases military equipment at Saudi Defence Show 2026

⏱ 2 minute read

Web desk: Pakistan is prominently displaying its defence equipment at the Saudi Defence Show 2026, one of the largest defence exhibitions in the world. The event brings together military and defence firms from more than 80 countries. It provides Pakistan an opportunity to highlight its growing defence industry and export potential.

Several Pakistani defence organisations, including Global Industrial and Defence Solutions (GIDS), Heavy Industries Taxila, and Pakistan Ordnance Factories, are presenting advanced military systems. The display includes the Fatah‑2 guided multiple launch rocket system, a variety of long-range surveillance drones, and other tactical battlefield solutions.

The Pakistani delegation, led by Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, emphasized the country’s defence capabilities and export ambitions. He noted that showcasing military hardware at international forums strengthens Pakistan’s position as a reliable defence partner in the region.

The participation is strategically important due to the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement (SMDA) between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Under this agreement, an attack on one country is treated as an attack on both. This pact expands cooperation beyond training and technical support, creating opportunities for joint exercises, technology sharing, and potential co-production of defence systems.

Pakistan’s presence at the Saudi Defence Show serves multiple purposes. It promotes defence exports, demonstrates technological capabilities, and reinforces strategic ties with Saudi Arabia. Analysts say the exhibition also strengthens operational collaboration, allowing both nations to explore future joint initiatives. The display of Pakistani equipment, including the JF‑17 Thunder fighter jet, has drawn interest from regional and international observers, highlighting Pakistan’s growing role in Middle Eastern security.
