Section 144 imposed in Rawalpindi for 15 days amid security concerns

Web desk: Authorities have imposed Section 144 across Rawalpindi district for 15 days from 7 February to 21 February 2026 to maintain security and public order. Deputy Commissioner Hassan Waqar Cheema issued the official notification after reviewing security concerns.

Under the order all public gatherings rallies protests sit ins and processions are banned across the district. Authorities also prohibited gatherings of five or more people to prevent potential law and order risks.

The notification bans the display and carrying of weapons and prohibits hate speech or provocative speeches. Officials also restricted activities that disrupt traffic flow while double riding and the use of loudspeakers are banned during the enforcement period.

District officials said the decision was taken after recommendations from the District Intelligence Committee which reviewed possible threats and the overall security situation. Police and administrative officers have been directed to ensure strict implementation of the restrictions and to take legal action against violators.

Authorities urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies avoid rumors and immediately report any suspicious activity to help maintain peace and public safety.
