Authorities have installed the largest kite in Pakistan at Liberty Chowk Lahore. The massive kite has quickly become a center of attraction for citizens and visitors.
The Parks and Horticulture Authority prepared the giant Lucknow style kite on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. Teams completed the preparation work in ten days.
Bright Basant colors now appear at major intersections. Authorities have illuminated important city roads with decorative lights. Markets across Lahore are seeing a sharp increase in demand for kite flying items.
On the second day citizens spent eighteen crore rupees on kites and strings. In two days total spending reached thirty four crore rupees. Market sources reported the sale of more than six hundred thousand kites and spools on the second day.
The revival of Basant after twenty five years has created strong excitement among Lahoris. People are eager to buy kites and strings despite rising prices. Lahore will celebrate Basant on February six seven and eight.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said on social media that Punjab will enjoy a long weekend. Kashmir Day will be observed on February five followed by a Basant holiday on February six.
Basant celebrations will continue on Saturday and Sunday. The Chief Minister expressed hope that people across Punjab will fully enjoy the occasion.
