Web Desk: Viral social media posts claim that Hawa Baloch aka Droshum is in FC custody. Internationally designated BLA carried out cowardly attacks on security forces and government machinery.
In the video, Droshum Baloch, who is currently in FC custody said, “I used to work at the University of Balochistan, where BLA chief Bashir Zeb blackmailed me. My private videos were recorded through the university’s security cameras, and I was threatened that they would be made viral if I did not work for the BLA.”
Alongside Asifa Mengal, Baloch is one of several women the group has highlighted in recent years, underscoring a shift in how it frames participation in its armed campaign.
According to statements attributed to the BLA, Hawa Baloch was a member of its Majeed Brigade, a unit the group describes as dedicated to high-impact operations. The group says she participated in the Gwadar front during what it called Operation Herof.
In its portrayal, the BLA presents Baloch not only as a combatant but also as an ideological figure. Reports circulated by the group suggest she was a writer and intellectual before joining the armed movement, a detail used to emphasise what it calls political consciousness among its recruits.
The BLA has also highlighted Baloch’s family background, stating that her father was involved in the Baloch armed struggle and was killed in combat years earlier. The group has cited this history as evidence of what it describes as the intergenerational nature of the conflict in Balochistan.
