In recent discussions, analyst Hammad Hassan and retired Major General Zahid Mahmood said the economy and security situation are moving in the right direction, supported by close cooperation between civilian and military leadership.
Hammad Hassan said speculation about differences between the government and the establishment has been amplified through media narratives but lacks factual grounding. He described the claims as part of a sustained effort to suggest a split where none exists.
According to Hassan, both sides remain aligned on national priorities, including economic recovery and security management. He added that several large-scale development projects are in the pipeline, reflecting policy continuity rather than institutional friction.
Hassan said recent trends indicate improvement in both economic and security conditions. He argued that stability has allowed policymakers to focus on long-term planning and investment rather than crisis response.
However, he said political agitation continues to challenge that stability.
Hassan blamed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and its founder Imran Khan for fueling protests and political unrest. He said such actions risk undermining progress at a time when the country requires consistency and calm to sustain economic and security gains.
Retired Major General Zahid Mahmood also rejected claims of a rift between civilian and military leadership. He said cooperation between the two has reached an “extraordinary” level, adding that this alignment has contributed directly to what he described as significant achievements in recent months.
He said repeated attempts to portray a divide amount to rumor-mongering that ignores realities on the ground.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan military has publicly reaffirmed its alignment with the government. In a press conference on Jan. 6, the military spokesperson said there is complete harmony between the federal government and security institutions and that no ambiguity should exist on the matter.
The spokesperson said similar rumors had been rejected in the past and reiterated that, as an institution, the armed forces remain fully aligned with government policies and will continue to work alongside the civilian leadership to support better governance.
He described the spread of such narratives as a conspiracy by political and negative elements seeking to advance their own objectives through misinformation and propaganda.
