Benazir Bhutto’s death anniversary: Holiday announced in Sindh

The Sindh government has announced a public holiday on December 27 to mark the 18th death anniversary of former prime minister Shaheed Mauhtarma Benazir Bhutto.

According to the released notification by the Services, General Administration and Coordination Department, all educational institutes, public and private offices, and every organisation under the control of the Sindh administration would remain closed on December 27.

The ex-prime minister, Benazir Bhutto, was assassinated on December 27, 2007, in Liaqat Bagh, Rawalpindi, during a political rally.   

Other than that, there is another holiday this week as the birthday of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah is approaching. There is a public holiday on December 25, on a Thursday, in the entire country.

Education Department in Punjab province has announced winter holidays for all public and private colleges, with institutions set to close from December 23 through January 10, according to an official notification.

The decision applies across the province and covers both government-run and privately managed colleges.

Colleges to reopen on Jan. 12

According to the notification, all colleges will resume academic activities on Monday, January 12.

After the break, classes will restart in full accordance with the regular weekly schedule, with no reduction in instructional hours.

Exams and BS programs unaffected

Meanwhile, the notification clarified that examinations conducted by boards and universities will continue as per their existing schedules.

In addition, BS four-year degree programs will proceed without interruption and holiday announcements will not affect their academic timelines.
