Lahore: Punjab’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested 12 operatives linked to India’s intelligence agency, RAW and recovered a significant cache of explosives and weapons, officials said.
Intelligence-Based Operation
CTD officials said the arrests followed intelligence-led raids in Lahore, Faisalabad and Bahawalpur. The suspects were allegedly planning to spread terror and incite sectarian hatred across Punjab. Investigators traced activities to a Facebook account under the name “Adil,” which coordinated operations for RAW.
Plot Targeted Religious and Sensitive Sites
According to CTD, the suspects were filming sensitive locations and places of worship in Punjab to share via WhatsApp with their handlers in India. Officials said the operatives intended to use these sites for terrorist attacks.
Details of Arrests and Seizures
Among those arrested in Lahore were Skadeep Singh, Azmat, Faizan, Nabeel, Abrar, Sarfraz and Usman, while Faisalabad suspect included Danish. Bahawalpur arrests included Rajab Hashim, Saqib and Arif. Skadeep Singh, a Lahore resident and former Christian convert, was also named. CTD said RAW funded the suspects’ activities.
Authorities recovered seven IEDs, two detonators, 102 feet of fuse wire, explosive material, firearms, mobile phones, and cash. Cases have been registered and investigations are ongoing to dismantle the network further.
