Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti said that nearly 100 militants have surrendered in Dera Bugti. He added that it is a welcome and positive development toward restoring lasting peace in the province.

Speaking during a news conference, the Chief Minister said the state must wholeheartedly welcome all those who choose to return. He stressed that reconciliation is vital for stabilizing the region. He said that those militants who have surrendered were before operating from the mountains, while many of them had also returned once before in 2010 before resuming armed activity.

CM paid tribute to the sacrifices of security personnel, emphasizing that our martyrs are our pride. He said that across Baluchistan 205 soldiers including six officers have been martyred in terrorist incidents and while 280 civilians have lost their lives. He added that the Security forces’ operations have resulted in the killing of 760 terrorists.

Mr. Bugti said that he himself has survived an attack in the past in which two people were injured and recalled that in 2018, the father of Jamal Raisani was martyred in an act of target violence. He also added that Baloch people were pushed into futile conflict.

“The state comes fist” he added. He vowed that vowing that personal ego means nothing when it comes to Pakistan’s stability and reiterated that those abandoning violence would be accommodated, while efforts against terrorism will continue with full determination.
