Information Minister Attaullah Tarar announced on Friday about a complete ban on meetings with founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, at Adiala jail. He called Imran Khan an “extremist consumed by war hysteria.”

Attaullah Tarar gave these remarks after the press briefing of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry. DG ISPR criticised Imran Khan in his press conference and termed him a “mentally ill person” and a threat to state security.

“Prisoner meetings are held in accordance with the law and established rules. There are no meetings; all meetings are banned,” the information minister said while speaking on the private media channel.

Atta Tarar confirmed that firm action will be taken against those who tried to violate rules and regulations.

“It is now time to restore the writ of the state. There will be no jail meetings, nor will gatherings be allowed,” Tarar stated.

According to the report, the Jail superintendent also confirmed about Imran Khan’s political discussions during the meetings with his sisters and party leaders, even though political discussions are not allowed in jail.

Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar said that Imran Khan’s sister Uzma Khan will not be able to meet the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder in Adiala jail. He also confirmed that the meetings of those who violate the meeting rules will not be possible as well.

While holding a press conference along with Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar, Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar said that the three sisters of the founder of PTI created a law and order situation outside the prison. He also stated that the meetings with those who have violated the law are banned. Uzma Khan’s meetings have also been banned from today, and the prison superintendent is bound to enforce the law, Tarar added.

The information minister also announced, “There is no room in the [prison] rules for political discussions, and it was reported that political discussions occurred, so meetings are now banned for Uzma Khan. This won’t happen.”
