Mexican Fatima Bosch crowned Miss Universe 2025

BANGKOK: The crown of beauty was awarded to Mexico’s Fatima Bosch at the Miss Universe 2025 finale in Thailand.

Bosch emerged as a fan favorite after a public reprimand of the Thai event director during a live-streamed meeting, an incident that led several contestants to stage a walkout in protest.

The 25-year-old Mexican is known for her humanitarian work and volunteer efforts. She received the crown from last year’s winner, Victoria Kjaer Thylov of Denmark, in Bangkok.

Miss Universe is considered the “Super Bowl” of international beauty contests, watched by millions each year. Each country’s representative is selected through local pageants licensed by the Miss Universe Organization.

Thailand’s Praewnar Singh was named the runner-up, while Venezuela’s Stefany Abasali, the Philippines’ Atthesa Manilo, and Ivory Coast’s Olivia Yasse made it to the top five.

This year, Thailand played host, highlighting its significant and lucrative role in the fashion industry. A total of 120 contestants from around the world participated. Nadine Ayoub became the first woman to represent the Palestinian people; she reached the top 30 semi-finalists before being eliminated.

The final was hosted by American comedian Steve Byrne, while the opening performance was delivered by Thai singer Jeff Sutter.

Contestants in the finale were asked how they would address global issues if given a chance to speak at the United Nations General Assembly and how they would use the Miss Universe platform to empower young women.

In her response, Fatima Bosch urged, “Believe in the power of your true self. Your dreams matter, your heart matters, and never let anyone make you doubt your worth.”
