SNGPL releases 2025 winter gas timings

RAWALPINDI: With winter setting in and temperatures falling across the country, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has rolled out its Winter Gas Load-Shedding Schedule for 2025. The newly issued timetable outlines how gas supply will be managed over the coming months as demand rises.

The plan is designed to distribute available gas more evenly and maintain a steady supply for the millions of households that experience shortages every winter.

Winter gas load-shedding schedule 2025:

As winter sets in each year, the demand for natural gas rises sharply, with families depending on it for heating, cooking, and running geysers. To cope with persistent shortages, SNGPL has rolled out a new gas supply schedule for 2025 across the country. Under this arrangement, households will receive gas only during designated hours each day, a measure aimed at avoiding pressure drops and unplanned outages.

Morning: 5:30 AM – 8:30 AM

Afternoon: 11:30 AM 1:30 PM

Evening: 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM

These hours will be followed across all major cities served by the SNGPL such as Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Peshawar as well as in smaller towns throughout Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Why the gas schedule is important:

Pakistan’s Winter Gas Load-Shedding Schedule for 2025 is more than a routine announcement and it has become unavoidable. Every winter, the country’s already limited gas supplies come under severe stress as household usage spikes. This surge affects industries and commercial users as well, pushing the system to its limits.

According to SNGPL officials, the revised schedule is designed to distribute the available gas more fairly between urban and rural areas. By assigning specific hours for supply, the utility hopes to avoid total outages and ensure that essential services continue without major disruption.

How the schedule affects households:

Under the updated schedule, households will need to align their cooking and heating activities with the official gas supply hours. Residents are encouraged to plan their meals and operate gas appliances only during the designated periods to prevent disruptions. Outside these hours, gas pressure may be significantly reduced or temporarily unavailable.

SNGPL has also called on consumers to use gas wisely and minimize wastage. Simple measures like turning off geysers when not in use and properly insulating pipes can help ensure steady pressure for all users.

SNGPL Network:

The Winter Gas Load-Shedding Schedule 2025 will be implemented across all regions managed by SNGPL including Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Multan, Peshawar, Gujranwala and other nearby districts

Residents in these areas are encouraged to stay updated through official SNGPL announcements and local news for any future adjustments to the schedule.

Possibility of Change:

SNGPL has emphasized that the current gas supply schedule is temporary and may be adjusted depending on factors like weather changes, the level of national gas reserves, and variations in supply.

In the event of a sudden drop in temperatures or the availability of additional gas, the company may update the schedule to increase supply hours.

Officials have also assured the public that ongoing measures are in place to ensure more stable gas distribution and minimize interruptions during the season.

Reporting gas theft:

SNGPL has urged the public to stay alert and cooperate to ensure the success of its plan. Illegal connections and gas theft remain significant contributors to pressure drops in numerous areas. Residents are encouraged to promptly report any suspicious activities to the SNGPL helpline, helping to maintain fair distribution and uninterrupted service for all.

The company highlighted that tackling the gas crisis effectively relies on shared responsibility, which is crucial to preventing more extensive outages in the months ahead.

Tips to manage gas:

To help families manage during the winter gas shortage, consider these practical tips:

  1. Prepare meals ahead of time when gas supply is available.
  2. Make use of electric alternatives, such as induction cookers or electric heaters, whenever possible.
  3. Limit the time your geyser stays on to save gas.
  4. Fit water-saving taps and insulate your water pipes to reduce heat loss.
  5. Promptly report any gas leaks or unauthorized connections.

Implementing these simple measures can make a noticeable difference and ease the strain during periods of limited gas supply.
