Jordan’s King Abdullah II Begins Two-Day State Visit to Pakistan

Islamabad: King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of Jordan arrived in Pakistan today for a two-day state visit, having accepted an invitation from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He was greeted at the airport by President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Sharif, and several federal ministers, signaling the high importance both countries attach to his trip.

King Abdullah was presented with a gurad of honour upon reaching the Prime Minister’s House.

High-Level Meetings Planned


During his time in Islamabad, the king will hold formal talks with both President Zardari and Prime Minister Sharif. According to officials, the agenda will cover a full range of bilateral relations, reflecting the long-standing, fraternal bond between Jordan and Pakistan.

Special Investiture Ceremony


As part of the visit, a special investiture ceremony will be held at Aiwan-e-Sadr (the presidential palace), where King Abdullah II will receive Pakistan’s highest civilian honour. Furthermore, the ceremony underscores the depth of mutual respect and diplomatic goodwill between the two nations.

Strategic and Broad-Based Partnership


Officials say the visit is designed to elevate Pakistan–Jordan ties onto a “higher trajectory,” with an emphasis on a more comprehensive, strategic partnership. In particular, both sides aim to deepen cooperation across political, economic, and cultural spheres signaling a renewed commitment to long-term collaboration.
