E-tags

The Islamabad administration has announced that all vehicles in the federal capital must carry e-tags from November 18. The administration decided to do this to improve security and enhance traffic flow on the city’s highways.

Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Memon said on Friday that this step is part of a wide-reaching plan to make the city one of the safest in Pakistan. According to DC Islamabad, E-tag stickers will be provided to citizens at multiple assigned centers across Islamabad. The capital city’s administration also said that it will inform all the citizens about the location and the process to receive an E-tag for their vehicles.

DC Memon stressed that only authorized centers will issue e-tags, and vehicle owners must show their original registration papers when applying. The policy will cover all vehicles using the city’s highways, whether they are registered in Islamabad or in any other city.

According to a federal official, implementation of E-tags can help improve security matters in the city, adding that law enforcers can keep track of every vehicle entering the city.

A woman has moved court against National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) after officials refused to make her Computerised National Identification Card (CNIC) because of a 10-month age difference between her and her younger sister.

Petitioner Saba Adnan, through Advocate Usman Farooq, told the court she has been visiting NADRA for the past 11 years and they have refused to make her CNIC and instead mock her because of a 10-month age difference between her and her younger sister.

Through her lawyer, she stated that her parents and sisters already have their identity cards. Even her younger sister has received hers.

But she is repeatedly asked why there is only a 10-month age gap between the two sisters.

Advocate Usman Farooq said that under NADRA rules, a CNIC can be issued even if there is a seven-month age difference.
