Defense Minister Khawaja Asif will present the Army Act Amendment Bill in the Senate today for approval. The agenda for the meeting has been released.
According to the agenda, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif will also present the Pakistan Air Force Act Amendment Bill for approval. The Pakistan Navy Ordinance Amendment Bill will also be presented in the Senate session for approval.
Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar will also present the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Amendment Bill for approval.
All these bills will be presented to the Senate after approval by the National Assembly.
It should be remembered that the National Assembly has approved the Army Act 2025 after the 27th Constitutional Amendment. According to the act, a new notification will be issued for the Army Chief as the Chief of Defense Forces. After the new notification, the term of the Army Chief will resume.
The Army Act stated that the Army Chief and the Chief of Defense will restructure and integrate all departments of the Pakistan Army. The Prime Minister will appoint the Commander of the National Strategic Command on the recommendation of the Army Chief and the Chief of Defense.
According to the Army Act, the term of office of the Commander National Strategic Command will be 3 years. The Commander National Strategic Command can be reappointed for 3 years.
The Army Act states that the position of Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee will cease to exist from November 27.
