Islamabad: The Islamabad Bar Council announced a three-day strike on Monday, vowing not to appear in any courts in the capital from November 12 to 14, in response to a recent terrorist attack that left multiple people dead and injured.

Bar Council Condemns Attack

In an official statement, the Islamabad Bar Council expressed deep sorrow over the attack on the district courts. The council described the incident as a “cowardly act targeting the judiciary,” emphasizing that several lawyers and civilians were among the injured.

The statement also conveyed condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery for those injured. The council announced plans to convene a general house meeting shortly to discuss further actions.

Nationwide Solidarity from Legal Community

The Lahore Bar Association announced a day of mourning and called for a strike, highlighting rising concerns over deteriorating law and order in the country. The association demanded immediate measures to restore peace and ensure public safety.

Call for Justice and Protection of Judiciary

The Islamabad Bar Council reaffirmed its commitment to protecting judicial independence and the legal fraternity. It urged authorities to bring the perpetrators and their facilitators to justice, stressing that attacks on the judiciary undermine the rule of law and national security.

The three-day strike reflects growing frustration among Pakistan’s legal community over repeated attacks on courts and security lapses, as authorities face mounting pressure to strengthen measures for lawyers, judges, and citizens alike.
