According to various reports, Meghan Markle will be getting back to acting. But unlike her previous works, this will not be a royal documentary or lifestyle series. Markle will be acting in a feature film for Amazon MGM Studios. This will be Markle’s first acting project since she departed from Suits, where she worked for 7 seasons, till 2017.

Amazon has not made any comments regarding these reports. Reporters reportedly saw Markle on the set in Pasadena, United States. More details of her character are still unclear but she might be playing a modified version of herself.

The film has a number of well known actors such as Brie Larson, Lily Collins, Jack Quaid, and Henry Golding.

After marrying Prince Harry in 2018, Markle was granted royal duties. However, she stepped back from those duties in 2020. Since then, her public facing work has done has been through Archwell, the media company she operates with Harry.

Her last Netflix project was in 2022, ‘With Love, Meghan’, a cooking and lifestyle series, where Markle showcased her lifestyle. The first season drew curiosity, however, in the second season, the viewership dropped significantly. Speculations about Markle returning to acting are not new. In a 2019 interview, Suits creator Aaron Korsh said he thought about asking Markle to return for the show’s final season. “I thought about asking, and I thought about even using audio footage that we have to come up with something,” Korsh said in an interview with Deadline. “In the end I didn’t ask… I’m going to respect her new life and not put her in the position of having to ask.”

He also mentioned that a Suits LA spinoff would not have been a natural fit for Markle’s character, even if the conversation about a return had taken place.

As for Markle’s acting return in Close Personal Friends, there is still no release date for the much-anticipated project. Fans will have to be patient to see Markle back on screen.
