SA dismantle Pakistan’s top order early in Second ODI

FASIALABAD: South Africa tore through Pakistan’s top order in the second One Day International (ODI) being played at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, today.

Pakistan, who won the toss and opted to bat first against the visiting side, faced a disastrous start. Opener Fakhar Zaman was dismissed for a duck, while skipper Babar Azam managed only 11 runs and Mohammad Rizwan departed after scoring just 4.

After six overs, Pakistan were struggling at 24 for the loss of three wickets.

Pakistan had defeated South Africa in the opening match of the three-match series. The second ODI is being played today, while the third and final encounter will take place at the same venue on November 8.

Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat first in the second One Day International (ODI) of the three-match series against South Africa.

In the head-to-head record between the two sides, Pakistan and South Africa have met 88 times in ODIs. The Proteas have emerged victorious in 52 encounters, while Pakistan has claimed 35 wins. One match ended without a result.

South Africa: Quinton de Kock, Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Tony de Zorzi, Matthew Breetzke (c), Sinethemba Qeshile, Donovan Ferreira, Corbin Bosch, George Linde, Bjorn Fortuin, Nqaba Peter, and Nandre Burger.

The hosts currently lead the ODI series 1-0 after a thrilling two-wicket win in the opening match. Before this, both teams competed in a three-match T20I series, where Pakistan triumphed 2-1, bouncing back after losing the first game.

Earlier, the two sides drew their two-match Test series 1-1, with South Africa staging a strong comeback to secure victory in the second Test.
