Web Desk: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan faces a legal dispute over advertisements for a pan masala brand he endorses. BJP leader and Rajasthan High Court advocate Inder Mohan Singh Honey filed a complaint at the Kota Consumer Court, alleging that the ads for Rajshree Pan Masala mislead consumers through surrogate advertising. Following the complaint, the court issued notices to Khan and the brand’s manufacturers, seeking a formal response. The next hearing is scheduled for November 27.
Allegations of Misleading Claims
The complainant challenges the advertisements’ claims that the pan masala contains saffron-infused cardamom, pointing out that the company cannot realistically include saffron, priced at nearly Rs 400,000 per kilogram, in a product sold for just Rs 5. Honey argued that such claims could encourage young people to consume pan masala, a product linked to rising rates of mouth cancer.
“Salman Khan is a role model for millions,” Honey told ANI. “We have filed this complaint to prevent celebrities from spreading misleading messages to youth. In other countries, actors do not promote tobacco or similar products, yet here they do. Pan masala is one of the leading causes of mouth cancer.”
Brand Clarifications
While Khan has promoted Rajshree Elaichi advertisements, he has not appeared in any pan masala-specific commercials. Nonetheless, the complaint includes him as a brand ambassador, highlighting the responsibility celebrities carry when endorsing products.
Salman Khan’s Current Work
Despite the legal notice, Khan continues his professional engagements. He is currently hosting the reality show Bigg Boss 19 while also shooting for the upcoming war drama Battle of Galwan. Meanwhile, the actor recently grabbed attention online for showcasing his fit physique after criticism over his previous appearance.
Looking Ahead
This is not the first time that Salman Khan faces a legal dispute, this case adds to Salman Khan’s history of legal controversies, which previously included a hit-and-run case in Mumbai and a poaching case in Rajasthan. Meanwhile, fans eagerly await his appearance in Riteish Deshmukh’s historical epic Raja Shivaji, set for release on May 1, 2026, where he will play the loyal warrior Jeeva Mahala.
