RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam matched an unwanted record held by Shahid Afridi during the first T20 International against South Africa.
Babar was dismissed for a duck after facing just two balls, caught by Corbin Bosch in the final over of the powerplay. With this, he registered his eighth duck in T20 Internationals, equalling Afridi’s tally.
Following this innings, Babar joined Afridi at third place among Pakistani players with the most zero scores in T20 Internationals. The list also includes Umar Akmal, Saim Ayub, and Kamran Akmal.
In the match, South Africa secured a convincing 55-run victory. Chasing a target of 195, Pakistan were bowled out for 139 in 18.1 overs.
For South Africa, Corbin Bosch claimed four wickets, while Reeza Hendricks anchored the innings with a superb 60 off 40 balls.
Among Pakistani bowlers, Mohammad Nawaz stood out with figures of 3 for 26. With the bat, Saim Ayub scored 37 and Nawaz added 36, but their efforts couldn’t prevent Pakistan’s defeat.
