Pakistan, Bangladesh pledge stronger defence ties

RAWALPINDI: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, NI, NI (M), is on an official visit to Bangladesh, where he met with H.E. Mr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor of Bangladesh; Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hassan, Chief of Naval Staff; Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, Chief of Air Staff; and Lieutenant General S. M. Kamrul Hassan, Principal Staff Officer (PSO), Armed Forces Division of Bangladesh.

In the separately held meetings, both sides discussed the evolving global and regional security environment and emphasized the importance of enhancing bilateral defence and security cooperation. General Mirza reaffirmed Pakistan’s appreciation for its longstanding fraternal ties with Bangladesh and underscored the shared resolve to deepen these relations based on sovereign equality and mutual respect. Both countries expressed optimism about improving defence collaboration and reaffirmed their commitment to expanding military-to-military engagements and related initiatives.

During his visit, the CJCSC also toured the School of Infantry and Tactics in Sylhet, where he interacted with the faculty and students. The civil-military leadership of Bangladesh acknowledged the professional excellence of the Pakistan Armed Forces and their achievements and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.

Earlier, upon his arrival at Senakunjo, a smartly turned-out contingent presented a Guard of Honour to the CJCSC, who also laid a wreath at Shikha Anirban.
