Sanam Marvi mesmerizes Paris audience with soulful performance

PARIS: Pakistani folk, sufi and spiritual singer Sanam Marvi captivated a packed audience on Sunday with her enthralling performance at the Theatre de la Ville in Paris. The concert, co-organized by the Embassy of Pakistan and Theatre de la Ville, offered Parisians a rare opportunity to experience the powerful voice and spiritual depth of one of Pakistan’s most celebrated singers.

Ambassador of Pakistan to France, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, praised Sanam Marvi and her team for their mesmerizing performance and thanked the Theatre de la Ville for once again bringing the essence of Pakistani music to Paris, the city of lights. She also appreciated the efforts of Soudabeh Kia, Conseillere Musique du Monde, and the theatre’s management for supporting global art and music, recalling that the legendary Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan had also graced the same stage.

Ambassador Baloch emphasized the importance of ‘cultural diplomacy’ in today’s interconnected world, noting that such events foster deeper connections between people, societies, and nations. She expressed her delight over the sold-out concert and voiced hope for further collaborations in performing arts between Pakistan and France.

Sharing her feelings after the performance, Sanam Marvi said, “Music is the spice of life, and we love our traditional music.” She expressed gratitude for the overwhelming appreciation shown by the large international audience. Born in Sindh, Pakistan, Marvi began singing at a young age and has since earned global acclaim for her unique blend of folk and sufi music.

The management of Theatre de la Ville noted that performances like Sanam Marvi’s allow French audiences to explore and enjoy music from around the world. They remarked that “music has no boundaries,” emphasizing that the program aims to strengthen love for international music and introduce French audiences to diverse cultures and the artists who represent them.
