ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif Thursday announced the Roshan Economy Power Package aimed at accelerating growth in Pakistan’s industrial and agricultural sectors. The announcement came during a meeting with experts and representatives from both industries at the Prime Minister’s Office.
Under the newly introduced package, industrial and agricultural consumers will receive additional electricity at concessional rates over the next three years, from November 2025 to October 2028.
According to the Prime Minister, the cost of additional electricity units, which currently stands at Rs 34 per unit for industries and Rs 38 per unit for the agriculture sector, will be substantially reduced. Over the next three years, both sectors will be supplied with extra electricity at a rate of Rs 22.98 per unit throughout the year.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that the financial burden of this discounted electricity will not be transferred to domestic consumers or any other sectors. He commended Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Leghari and his team for their dedicated efforts in preparing this package.
“The development of industry and agriculture is essential for national economic progress and job creation,” the Prime Minister stated. “We are taking all possible measures to enhance competitiveness and business convenience for our industrial and agricultural sectors.”
He further highlighted that during the previous winter’s power relief package, industrial and agricultural sectors utilized an additional 410 gigawatts of electricity, which helped increase production, boost exports, and create employment opportunities.
“The journey from economic crisis to stability has been challenging, but through the hard work of our economic team and your cooperation, we have made it possible,” the Prime Minister added.
He reaffirmed that growth in industry and agriculture will play a crucial role in freeing Pakistan from reliance on external loans. “By the grace of Allah, our improved policies have strengthened economic indicators. Yet, much work remains, and with collective effort and commitment, we will achieve the goal of economic self-sufficiency,” he concluded.
