⏱ 2 minute read

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has planned to hold the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) next year in April and May after the month of Ramadan, with the addition of 2 new teams expected. Private TV reports that this proposed PSL schedule is likely to clash with the Indian Premier League (IPL), which will be held from March 15 to May 31. According to the report, there has been no formal meeting between the Pakistan Super League franchises and the PCB in this regard so far and many important issues are still resolved. The PCB is of the view that it will not be possible to hold the PSL in February or March due to the T20 World Cup scheduled early next year. A series of 3 T20 matches is scheduled between Pakistan and Australia in preparation for the World Cup, after which Pakistan will play a series of 2 Test matches against Bangladesh. A series of 3 ODIs between Pakistan and Australia is also scheduled after the PSL and the World Cup. Further, ODI and T20 series against Bangladesh and series of the same nature against Zimbabwe will be played after May. The PCB wants to hold the Pakistan Super League in April and May in view of all these engagements, including a proposal to add 2 new teams this time, which will increase the number of teams in the league to 8. However, due to this schedule clash with the IPL, many international players will have to choose between the two leagues, which can be a challenge for the PSL. In this situation, the PCB will need to make a major strategy regarding the availability of players. Further progress is expected in the coming weeks, when the final consultation between the PCB and the franchises will take place.
