Pakistan will meet India in the final of the ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium today, September 28.
India has entered the final unbeaten, defeating Pakistan twice earlier in the tournament, first in the group stage and then in the Super Fours.
Abhishek Sharma, the top-ranked T20 batter, and Varun Chakravarthy, the No. 1 bowler, have been central to their success. Jasprit Bumrah has been effective in the powerplay overs, while Kuldeep Yadav leads the wicket tally with 13.
Pakistan secured their place in the final after an 11-run win over Bangladesh on September 25 in what was effectively a semi-final.
This will be the first time the two rivals contest an Asia Cup final.
The tournament has also seen controversy. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav was reprimanded by the International Cricket Council (ICC) after skipping a handshake at the toss during the group match on September 14 and making political remarks in a post-match interview.
Looking ahead to the final, Pakistan captain Salman Agha said his team is ready. “We know what we need to do, and we are a good enough team to beat anyone, and we will come on Sunday and try to beat them,” he stated.
Shoaib Akhtar shares key weakness of India
Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar has shared key weakness of Indian team ahead of the Pakistan clash.
“The worlds fastest bowler said that “We don’t just have to complete 20 overs, we have to take wickets. When you go for wickets, even India will realise they can be rattled. And the moment Abhishek gets out within the first two overs, mark my words, they’ll be in real trouble.”
Highlighting the need for self-belief, Shoaib Akhtar reminded the team not to get overwhelmed by India’s stature.
“Don’t focus on them being the number one team. Just ask yourself: what is my best? Whatever that is, put it out there. Play sensible cricket,” he added.
“Step out of that mindset, break their aura, and go in with the same attitude you had against Bangladesh, take them on, come at us, we’ll see. That’s the attitude you need,” Akhtar stressed.
When will Asia Cup 2025 final India vs Pakistan start?
